North Carolina based artist Nannette Gatti Davis has been designing and fabricating in metals since 1991.  She began her career working with metals in Chicago, where her collaboration with various designers inspired her to start making her collections. Her collections draw inspiration from her training in Graphic Design and Jewelry Metalsmithing, which allows for a unique combination of her love of line, light, texture, and form. With these fundamental design elements in mind, she uses a variety of techniques to create pieces that invite a tactile exploration of the layers of thought and manipulation that combine to create each finalized piece.

Nannette’s passion for materializing the process of creation within her work also extends to her continued commitment to teaching and nurturing the community around her.  She has a passion for people, design in all forms, nature, and nurturing. She is a metals design instructor at Sawtooth School for Visual Art in Winston-Salem, where she works to foster a love and appreciation for art and art education. Through her work at Sawtooth, Nannette has provided years of experienced leadership to local communities, including mentoring, outreach, and teaching skills to emerging visual artists.

After years of creating and teaching, Nannette has turned her attention to the world of fashion design and has been a participating designer in Winston-Salem Fashion Week. Nannette has brought her passion for art education and community outreach to her work in fashion, where she maintains her mission to make art affordable and accessible to all. Her collections have great diversity not only in materials used but also in aesthetics and price. When she creates custom designs for the fashion world, she feels as if it is her opportunity to work outside the box of the commercial marketplace and push the boundaries of everyday wear towards accessible and wearable art.
